JOHN WILKINSON
Influenced by Martyn, Turner, Kieffer and Eardley, I work wet on wet with a painting knife, depicting landscapes both real and imagined. I sometimes incorporate elements of that landscape, mixing organics and minerals with the paint. I work in series and themes I have covered include the Arctic Convoys, Industrial Sheffield, Mining, Deindustrialisation and Fishing. I describe my practice as slow art, creating a visual narrative for the eye to wander around, explore the nooks and crannies, and ponder the stories suggested in the image. My palette is rich in the earths that surround and inspire me. Depth, perspective and light are all important elements of
the work, which is an expression of my reaction to the world I see. More of my work can be seen here.

JULIAN WRIGHT
“I create art because I feel I have to rather than because I have been taught to. Painting is a form of compulsion that enables me to express how I feel and what I would like to say. My paintings try and convey the emotional connection I have with the landscape or the person by utilising colour and shape as an expression of this.”

KATY SETT
Katy is a very talented local artist who has an amazing skill at painting portraits. She painted a utility cabinet featuring a portrait of Stan Shaw who was the last little mester of Sheffield. She also created a mural featuring Kelham-born anti-slavery campaigner Mary Anne Rawson meeting American Frederick Douglass, a former slave who became a famous abolitionist.
KIERAN FLYNN
Kieran is an abstract art painter based in Sheffield and is part of the Kelham Island Arts Collective. He uses colour and scale to create perspective and depth in his works.
