KELHAM ARTS AND HERITAGE TRAIL

About

“Our vision for the Kelham Arts and Heritage Trail was to create an area full of creative and colourful community artwork reflecting the area’s nature, heritage, industry and culture. Openreach, Virgin Media, O2 and Yorkshire Water have been very supportive and granted our team of professional artists permission to paint the utility cabinets. We’ve also commissioned a number of colourful murals in the area and this has all helped to foster a sense of respect and pride amongst the local community.”

Craig Wolstenholme, project leader for the Kelham Island Arts & Heritage Trail.

“These designs are quite amazing and the artists producing them are incredibly talented. We’re delighted to be part of such a worthwhile project and hope the artwork is enjoyed by people living and working in the local area.”

Robert Thorburn, Openreach’s Partnership Director for the North of England

Most of the Kelham Arts & Heritage Trail consists of artwork which we’ve commissioned local artists to paint. Many of these artists are based at the Kelham Island Arts Collective. In addition, there are many other pieces of artwork which can be found in the area and we’ve made all of these also part of the trail.

We are still seeking businesses and individuals willing to sponsor the creation of unique artworks on the remaining utility cabinets so please click here for more information if you are interested.
